Shabbat is the Jewish day of rest. But it serves not only the physical need of resting, but also a spiritual one. Shabbat is a celebration day – one should spend it with family, and everyday activities are forbidden. Although Shabbat has a lot of restrictions, there are rituals that should be observed. At Shabbat, Jewish people suppose to eat three meals – Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, and the last one – Saturday afternoon. They make all the preparations before Shabbat, so they can only enjoy it with family with no work involved – those include cleaning the house, bathing and preparing the meals. Jewish women light Shabbat candles, then the family sits around the dinner table and performing the ritual of Kiddush. Jews also go to the synagogue at Shabbat – they pray and use the day for spiritual enlightening. Shabbat is a very important day for Jewish people, they honor it and enjoy it.
